The Senior Trade Compliance Officer will have responsibility for all aspects of the export process for Trade Compliance laws including but not limited to the Department of Commerce and Department of State, US Census Bureau, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Office of Foreign Assets Control. The Senior Trade Compliance Officer will provide guidance and support to internal resources to identify controlled data and hardware, licensable transactions, evaluate export license requests, gather necessary data, prepare documentation for license applications for submission to the appropriate government agency as well as trade-related reporting, recordkeeping and maintenance of existing licenses. This role will also have a responsibility to prepare, review and approve international shipments, run denied party screenings and provide analysis to business partners.


  • Serve as an Empowered Official as a member of the Trade Compliance Department.
  • Support and interact with Kratos’ Program Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Development, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Finance, IT, Traffic and Contracts Department.
  • Verify proper export jurisdiction and classifications for products, technology, documentation and software in accordance with applicable U.S. export control laws.
  • Provide guidance and advice regarding import/export issues to peers and upper-level management, while assuring full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare export/import license applications.
  • Conduct and facilitate due diligence reviews in connection with transactions that may pose a trade compliance risk to the Company
  • Coordinate and approve international shipments in accordance with U.S. trade laws.
  • Complete Denied Party Screenings.
  • Review, approve and coordinate international travel documents as they related to U.S. trade laws.
  • Maintains compliance due diligence reports and records.
  • Monitors and studies relevant regulatory developments (Department of State, Department of Commerce, Customs & Border Protection, Office of Foreign Assets Control).
  • Helps business partners understand the risks and consequences of the given situation. Effectively communicates the consequences and develops alternatives to manage identified risks.
  • Manages record keeping and reporting requirements.


Required Experience:


  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with peers, leadership, and end users, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
  • Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purpose.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to requests on short notice.


  • BA/BS in related field and 10 years of industry experience in international trade, export compliance or related experience.
  • Experience with U.S. trade laws (i.e. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Customs trade regulations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Practical day to day work experience applying ITAR and EAR regulations.
  • Working knowledge of export/import shipping documents (e.g., Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings, Air Waybills.
  • Experience in Defense Industry is a plus.

  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones).
