The Trade Compliance Specialist role will be responsible for supporting the initiatives of the company, as they relate to Global Trade. They will be a point person for the development, documentation, and implementation of processes that improve efficiencies of Donaldson's trade compliance program while ultimately reducing risk for the company. We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable individual with a positive attitude to join our team.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support trade compliance activities to be compliant with departmental and corporate procedures and with all applicable global, federal, state, foreign laws and regulations.
  • Maintain the GTC processes, procedures and work instructions relevant to all international trade and US government agencies (US Customs & Border Protection, BIS, Census, OFAC, FDA, APHIS, FWS, CITES, ITAR, DEA, USDA, etc.).
  • Research global market import/export admissibility of Donaldson product. Support GTC Operations and Project Manager with regulatory guidance.
  • Collaborate cross functionally on sourcing optimization projects. Assist with audit activities to demonstrate reasonable care in all areas of trade compliance through collaboration with Trade Operations, Logistics, ITS, Legal, Finance, Purchasing, etc. to assure adherence to all applicable global import/export regulations.
  • Support all pertinent Donaldson teams to explore cost-savings opportunities.
  • Conduct the GTC trade compliance training program for employees, its vendors and any designated affiliates.
  • Assure accurate trade compliance data: HS, export control classifications, country of origin, license requirements and Other Government Agency (OGA) data for customs purposes. Educate Donaldson on proper terms and conditions of international sale, INCOTERMS, documentation requirements, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years or more experience in International Trade Compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • US Customs Broker License a plus.
  • Experience in interpreting and providing guidance on global regulations.
  • Strong cross functional collaboration skills and ability to influence others.
  • Detail oriented and experience interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to be an independent contributor and work within a team environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; both written and verbal.
