YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Global Trade Specialist, are to manage the day to day interaction and coordination of the import/export of seed and non seed (chemical, specialized, research) items entering/exiting the US. This role is critical to delivering the business through ensuring Import and Export Operations meet compliance and customs requirements, are accurate and efficient, meeting customer and production demands. Import of materials directly impacts production sites and Exports support foreign manufacturing sites as well as sales to end customers.


Key Tasks:

  • Perform Import/Export activities in compliance with Government rules and regulations, organizational policies, procedures, goals and objectives, with minimal supervision;
  • Expedite the import/export process by liaising with Regional Import/Export coordinators, Warehousing/Distribution, and Plant & Production planning;
  • Coordinate logistics for import/export shipments (ocean, air, land, rail): working closely with freight forwarders, brokers, Transportation Contract managers and internal stakeholders;
  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely and a compliant manner, adhering to all internal policies and government regulations;
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with US and foreign customers;
  • Audit team members files to ensure files are maintained in audit ready status;
  • Participate in internal or external (USCBP/EPA) audits;
  • Responsible for accurate, timely and compliant processing of all orders for assigned countries and/or product portfolio;
  • Remain current on all applicable import/export regulations through formal training and self-guided initiatives;
  • Develop, maintain and train team members and stakeholders on Standard Operating Procedures associated with assigned portfolio;
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, across divisions and internationally to identify and implement best practices and maintain a culture of continuous improvements;
  • Serve as the key contact for foreign partners and customers;
  • Conduct Import/Export operation processes for training as required.

Qualification & Competencies:

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree with 3 years experience in Business, Supply Chain, International Commerce, or related field required;
  • Ability to read and write English with strong verbal and written communication skills required;
  • Exemplify strong working knowledge and experience with data systems (e.g., MS Office Suite, ACE, SAP, GTS, Amber Road, OneSource) preferred;
  • Demonstrate strong project/deadline management and excellent analytical skills preferred;
  • Demonstrate knowledge in Import/Export trade & compliance, inventory controls, shipping/logistics preferred;
  • Experience with agricultural and/or chemical products preferred;
  • Ability to be flexible to work outside of normal hours when necessary.
