We are looking for a passionate Principal Specialist, Global Trade who will

plan and implement Global Trade compliance audits, assessments, monitor processes, and coordinate reporting and corrective actions with Business Unit legal representatives and Corporate Global Trade compliance staff. This will be remote opportunity with occasional travel.

What You Will Do:

  • Review and propose changes to Business Unit and Corporate Global Trade policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with requirements of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR), OFAC – Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) regulations
  • Provide experienced professional advice and guidance concerning the requirements and obligations of exporting and importing dual use and defense articles and services under the EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and BATFE
  • Ensure records are accurately maintained in the systems of record to maintain clean and clear audit trails
  • Support the business unit and Corporate Global Trade systems initiatives, user group, testing and derives trade systems solutions, process implementation and training to the Business Unit
  • Provide and/or develop export/import training for the Global Trade professionals and/or the Business functions (e.g. Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, etc.)
  • Participate in Corporate Global Trade compliance audits and conduct self-assessment audits from the start of audit through to closure of corrective actions
  • Implement and support internal audits/assessments of U.S. Government export/import licenses, agreements, exemptions, exceptions, technology release authorizations, commodity jurisdiction determinations and other documentation
  • Assist in implementation of company procedures and instructions to support compliance with U.S. Government export/import regulations and company policy
  • Track status and provide reports and metrics associated with export/import assessments activities and corrective actions
  • Conduct reviews and provide conclusions of internal audits established by the company’s corporate office or external entities
  • Represent and/or support export/import Compliance team in meetings and discussions with internal customers
  • Prepare reports and presentations, including communications with external or Corporate auditors
  • Coach and provide guidance to other employees regarding export/import compliance, as needed
  • Review export/import files and records to verify compliance with U.S. Government export/import regulations and company policies
  • Travel to, and participate in, Global Trade events

Skills and Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and experience applying this knowledge to recommend a solution
  • Experience researching, interpreting and applying government regulations such as the ITAR and EAR
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and provide a recommendation with rationale
  • 5 years of broad export/import experience and increasing responsibility (licenses, agreements, compliance, and transactional activities)
  • Flexible, cooperative and collaborative; demonstrated ability to adapt to changing U.S. Government and customer conditions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solver, able to work under time sensitive circumstances, collaboratively or independently, and take initiative to address situations before issues arise
  • Ability to work in a self-guided manner under limited supervision
  • Self-motivated, well organized, and goal oriented with ability to prioritize tasks and make independent decisions
  • Attention to detail and follow through on assignments to achieve desired results
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Excel
  • Ability to travel as required - 10%

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Sincere interest in the field of Global Trade and its strategic impact
  • Excellent customer relation/interpersonal skills
  • Willing to take on challenges and accept stretch assignments
  • Experience with SNAP-R, OCR EASE IT systems

Required Education:

Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years' experience.
