Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager and working with the internal stakeholders is responsible to develop strategies and processes resulting in an optimized transportation and logistics operation that supports the organizational goals of delivering the right solution and an optimal experience. This role is based in our Brittmoore Rd, Houston location and will be responsible for these activities for US operations. Some travel to other Compass locations may be required.


  • Establish relationships with carriers and optimize the carrier data base.
  • Ensure onboarding and qualification of new transportation providers is completed according to our policies.
  • Determine rate schedules and maintain and monitor compliance items.
  • Ensure project Budget and Key Performance Indicators are met.
  • Provide accurate weekly/monthly reports for project forecast, budget and performance management.
  • Prepare Requests for Quotations and select optimal modes of transport and carrier(s) for project specific freight and logistics
  • Consistently follow and develop local transportation Policies, Procedures in line with Company Guidelines.
  • Manage Purchase Orders to move loads from origin to destination points.
  • Approve freight invoices.
  • Ensure that all freight is picked up and delivered on time and at the correct location
  • Preparation and submission of necessary import/export documentation in accordance with global customs compliance regulations
  • Monitor freight and logistics shipments and communicate with internal stakeholders to the schedule and status of these shipments.
  • Document and submission of freight claims through to resolution of the claim.
  • Take all reasonable action necessary to carry out delegated responsibilities and ensure such actions do not deviate from established policies or conflict with sound business judgment.
  • Adhere to Quality, Health and Safety requirements, company policies, ISO standards and directives.
  • Ensure Health and Safety issues and concerns are reported and addressed.
  • Work as a contributing team member, establish fair working relations and maintain a positive and professional attitude when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as requested/directed.

Required Education

  • Business degree in Supply Chain Logistics preferred or equivalent experience required.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Preferred minimum 5 years’ experience in import, export and Global Trade Compliance requirements or Customs Clearance, and international logistics role.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook required.
  • Strong understanding of Incoterms, HS Tariff Classifications, Rules of Origin, Values for Duty and other customs compliance regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of inbound and outbound border crossing procedures.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of North America with an understanding of local jurisdictional regulations.
  • Understanding of the handling and transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment manufacturing, processes, and systems.
  • Experience working with Bill of Materials from CAD Drawings.
  • Speed with alpha numeric / typing skills with high level of accuracy is required.
  • Exceptional documentation, reporting and problem-solving skills required.
  • Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • *Physical Strain:
  • Standard requirements. Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching will all be required occasionally in this position
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Lifting 10 pounds maximum with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds
  • May be required to work at heights of up to 25 feet
  • Must meet all OSHA regulations and must wear all required PPE when in the shop environment.
