Overview:

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring The Container Store’s import shipments are managed efficiently, in a cost-effective manner, while maintaining service levels and planned deadlines. Additional responsibilities include establishing vendor relationships, monitoring timely freight document flow, approving Customs broker and freight forwarder invoices, building consolidated loads, and arranging export shipments. This position works closely with the Buying, Planning, DC Operations, and Accounting teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with PO manager, Customs broker, freight forwarders, ocean carriers and other service providers to foster good relationships for the successful execution of work processes
  • Monitors daily communication with foreign suppliers for status updates, service changes, and resolve potential risks
  • Collaborates with PO manager and Import team members to accurately assign ocean and dray carriers to inbound POs
  • Manages all transload partners on the west, east and gulf coasts
  • Partners with Buying and Distribution Center teams on hot shipments and campaign orders which includes freight prioritization and status tracking updates
  • Escalates the resolution of missed ship windows, vessel rolls, and any delays that may occur between the foreign supplier and The Container Store Distribution Center
  • Audits and approves import and export related expenses
  • Mitigates, records, and reports any demurrage, storage, and per diem to Manager and Finance team
  • Negotiates rates and provides quotes to internal teams
  • Drives improvements for the international logistics processes focusing on service, vendor performance, efficiencies, and cost savings

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in international logistics and/or compliance is preferred
  • Familiar with Customs entry audits, CTPAT processes, and the HTSUS
  • Based in Dallas/Ft. Worth area and able to work in the Coppell, TX office on a hybrid schedule
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as effectively contribute to a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a faculty for numerical detail and the ability to manage complexity
  • Able to direct multiple projects and anticipate challenge
  • Experience with expediting and improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently from a remote location as required based on the Company Telecommuting Policy
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel required for reporting and analysis
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
