As a member of our Logistics team, you will be exposed to the industry-leading engineering, product, manufacturing and cross functional teams. You will work with industry-leading automotive component and ECU (Electronics Control Unit) vendors globally related to logistics activities. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop the best logistics solutions to transport premium NIO vehicles based on speed, efficiency, protecting part quality, optimized timing, and incorporating world class methods and tools.


This position will be responsible for driving all facets of shipping, documentation, imports and exports plus compliance, logistics provider coordination and logistics budget management activities within NIO USA. The individual will work closely with business unit stakeholders, Custom Brokers /Freight forwarders, Courier services (DHL, FedEx, etc.), government agencies, and the leadership team to establish and maintain a robust system of policies, procedures and controls to ensure 100% compliance with all applicable laws and regulations that is cost effective. In addition, the individual will use their experience and knowledge to mitigate risks and implement savings opportunities. This is a high-graded individual contributor role in line with global professional ranking policy, but it will be expected to grow and have increased responsibilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Interpret contract terms/conditions for export/import implications and provide direction in all phases of international logistics. Advise functional groups of customs and export regulations, associated shipping and duties cost estimates.
  • Respond to external changes including the impact of increasing complexity, material volumes and value growth resulting from regulatory changes.
  • Through active management of process improvements, creation of policies and procedures and training, deliver a continuous flow of cost savings and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with all government agencies, including Customs Border Patrol (CBP), Department of Commerce / BIS, Department of Transportation (DOT), etc. requirements.
  • Communicate with international suppliers and customs brokers. Review and approve courier, Freight forwarder, packaging, customs brokerage invoices/appropriate HTS codes and other logistics related requirements.
  • Manage and report metrics and Key Performance Indicator's (KPI), especially the performance of logistics provider services.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining relationships and contracts with our logistics providers/customs brokers. Includes analysis and execution of strategies to achieve the lowest total landed cost including tax & Duty optimization strategies.
  • Management of our partner and process required to perform freight invoice processing and cost analysis.
  • Determine most appropriate classification (export/import) as needed to ensure optimized tariffs and costs.
  • Collaborate with the legal compliance team on various issues, including but not limited to Export Classification for all NIO developed technologies deemed for export
  • Be the primary contact for import and export and daily shipping operations.
  • Work in unison with global NIO Logistics personnel to support the global import and export activities.
  • Track logistics spend to budget and report out. Pursue logistics cost optimization and savings as required by NIO US and China logistics teams
  • Work in close liaison with NIO China logistics team for synergies, best practices, and operational process optimization.
  • Collaborate with HQ Logistic team for North America Logistic Network Planning and 5 years logistic strategies for US market.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in Imports/Exports management, shipping and trade compliance including experience working with a globally diverse staff directly or in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laws, regulations and best practices with emphasis on US import and export regulations, product classification and compliance.
  • Experience working with issues of a global nature and interacting with company employees in other countries.
  • Experience dealing with Freight forwarders and maintaining commercial relations, including commercial negotiations.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Fast learner with the ability to multitask under pressure. Ability to adapt and learn quickly.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or relevant field.
  • Experience with automotive and electronics commodity, software, technology and deemed export license programs, including customs and regulations
  • Experience with finished automotive vehicles transport operations
  • Licensed Customs Broker certificate and/or International Trade Certifications (IIEI)
  • Knowledge of finance and legal policy related to import and export, familiarity with other countries’ regulation of import and export
  • Experience working with EU and APAC export control regulations
  • Working knowledge of Import/Export to China
