This position serves a critical role in the Global Logistics leadership team, as a Sr Manager of Global Logistics you will establish global processes and implement programs, projects, and initiatives to achieve the company’s overall strategic objectives. Elevating the logistics function to support a best-in-class Supply Chain.


A Sr Manager, Global Logistics is accountable for process creation/ compliance and data management. You will be accountable for various modes of transportation, owning the relationships, negotiations, and the success of the vendor. In this position you will work collaboratively to ensure best in class service to the consumers in all regions and channels. As a Sr Manager of Global Logistics, you will optimize for cost & service, champion system and process improvements, while elevating and leading in communication and talent development.Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Leads a dynamic team of logistics professionals with an emphasis on further developing Global Logistics Talent/Human Resources.
  • Owns the relationship with the Global and Regional teams enabling best in class service to the company. Accountable for the operating model for all parts of the logistics lifecycle from RFP, forecast, seasonal execution and billing.
  • Develop advanced engagement models with a high level of internal and cross functional visibility across all levels of the organization (QBR, Cost to serve reviews, forward looking growth, and risk mitigation strategies)
  • Translate the global impact of logistics performance through the lens of revenue, inventory, lead time, cost and service. Maintains a solid finical understanding and strong end to end supply chain acumen.
  • Bring forth and implement new revolutionary ways of working. This includes writing and submitting business cases, cost modeling for viability and company benefit.
  • Lead and represent the team in corporate initiatives that further our supply chain strategic pillars, specifically: Elevate Planning, Develop Network Capacity, Optimize Fulfillment, Enhanced Network Visibility, Digitization of the supply chain and Accelerating our talent.
  • Establish and monitor KPI’s/ metrics to evaluate Global Logistics performance, develop communication tools to maximize regional service and functional cost, implement industry best practices, and educate Columbia personnel on transportation mode optimization.
  • Establish and manage effective international logistics processes improving and digitizing the physical distribution of products as well as the administrative control and information flow.
  • Collaborates with regional logistics leaders to establish and manage local (in-country) logistics processes for the physical distribution of products as well as the administrative control and information flow. Standardizing and digitizing processes were possible.
  • Works with regional logistics teams to Identify and establish “global best practice” for each of the core logistics functions encompassing - warehouse, transport, and international logistics which can be utilized at the business and regional level and in other group divisions.
  • Owns and executes vendor selection and appointment procedures that lead to strong established contracts with 3PLs/ 4PLs. (used by the business to warehouse, transport and import and export materials.)
  • Be the focal point for global trade compliance at an operational level including structure and organizational definition and implementation of processes and technology investments.
  • Represent and contribute on behalf of the logistics function when the organization engages in new projects, business ventures or seeks to expand into emerging and new markets as well as key initiatives.
  • Represent and contribute on behalf of the logistics function when the organization seeks to rationalize and/or review its core technology investments.

Job Scope:

Manages multiple teams (Managers and Analysts) servicing the entire company. Assists in the development and achievement of functional objectives. Develops solutions and execution strategies where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of business objectives. Decisions have function-wide impact. Makes decisions impacting the tactical and strategic area of responsibility. Sets goals and objectives for department or sub-function and influences functional strategy.

Duties will also consist of ensuring company updates and education on transportation/supply chain issues and opportunities. This position will have high visibility in the organization due to its effect on company profits.

Interpersonal Contacts:

Contacts will be made both inside and outside the company. Establishment of a strategic relationship with senior level leaders at multiple transportation providers is essential for success. Internal contacts include Finance, Buyers/Planning, Manufacturing, Technology, Sales, Procurement, and others as required. Interactions will entail discussions on information sharing, problem solving, education on transportation optimization/improvements, strategic initiative execution, and other company discussions. External communications will include industry updates, strategic initiatives, negotiations and allocations/routings, evaluations, and other service provider discussions. Primary interactions will be face-to-face, but also via conference call for global requirements. Information will be extremely confidential, both inside and outside of Columbia.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibility:

Full management of functions with multiple teams in Global Logistics, with Managers and Analysts as direct reports, (an extended team of approx 8). Professional leadership includes management of people, defining roles and responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance, appraisal of performance and employee pay decisions/changes.

  • Demonstrate initiative and strong business knowledge
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to apply experience and knowledge to provide creative solutions to problems

Desired:

  • Previous work with other cultures in a business setting and awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences
  • SAP experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience

Experience:

Minimum 10 years professional experience, 5+ years management experience in logistics management or relevant technical / business skills required to accomplish the job. Apparel/footwear industry experience desired.
