The Enterprise Cloud Architect on the Enterprise Architecture Team is responsible for developing technology standards, optimizing the benefit of existing technologies, acting as a consultant within IT and to the organization, and developing and maintaining technology roadmaps that align to business strategies and priorities. An ExA architect is responsible for determining the company technology strategy and architectures within their domain (ex Enterprise Technology Architect (ETA) may focus on servers and storage, while an Enterprise Security Architect (ESA) leads the design of technical strategies within the CyberSecurity space, etc). Additional architecture resources may not carry the Enterprise tag, but serve similar responsibilities in a defined domain. This is a US ONLY Remote Role.


The Enterprise Cloud Architect is responsible for creating reference and solution architectures for cloud environments. High level solution designs from business units are submitted to the GIS&T team for a cloud architecture to add further refinement and detail to make the proposed solution work within Westinghouse Architecture standards. In addition, the cloud architect will be a “hands-on” role and as well help to work with various Westinghouse IT teams (platform, network, security, data, etc) and additional functions outside of IT (digital and innovation, global trade compliance, etc) to create scalable cloud solutions that meet customer requirements and comply to standard design principles. Finally, the cloud architect will act as a consultant and troubleshooting resource to assist internal customers in creating new solutions and refining existing solutions to accommodate scale, automation, and optimization.


Your Day to Day:

  • Translate project-specific requirements into a cloud framework that meets both customer requirements and WEC policies and procedures.
  • Design cloud environment and tenant with a holistic view to ensure it meets both internal customer and WEC requirements and risk mitigation.
  • Lead cloud computing efforts; strategize and communicate the pros and cons of cloud leverage objectively, including financial analysis.
  • Lead the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) that aligns cross-functional IT teams and business resources for cloud efforts.
  • Automate provisioning of cloud services using principles of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Facilitating design and deployment of cloud solutions, including ongoing operational strategies to maintain, monitor, optimize and manage the environment.
  • Act as a technical consultant to internal groups developing customer facing cloud solutions, as well as IT designs that are hybrid cloud/on premises.
  • Act as a technical lead to design the infrastructure needed to integrate WEC applications into the cloud.
  • Train and guide users on cloud best practices by creating reference architectures for cloud deployment patterns (eg a Machine Learning Service integrated with Data Storage and Analysis Clusters).
  • Partner with other architects to analyze enterprise cloud usage for data, analytics, security, user experience, and agility.
  • Validate IT infrastructure and other reference architectures for security best practices and recommend changes to ensure cloud is leveraged appropriately and compliantly.


Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or other technical degree desired. Equivalent experience acceptable.
  • 5+ years of practical experience to provide reference, but more importantly the ideal candidate possesses the skills and competencies for the role (listed below).
  • Azure certifications are “nice to have” rather than a requirement. The below certifications are representative to the body of skill the incumbent will need to have:
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Azure Infrastructure and Deployment

Technical:

  • Proficient understanding of Azure Architecture – Management Groups, Azure Policies, Subscriptions, Network Security Groups, Virtual Networks, Virtual LAN, Subnets
  • Proficient understanding of Azure Assets and Service Oriented Architectures (Application Services, API integration, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, etc)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud and connection services (eg ExpressRoute)
  • Experience with agile project management, including Azure DevOps (or TFS/VSTS) and/or GitLab
  • Experience understanding peripheral disciplines (automation, networking, etc)
  • Business Process Design as it relates to installing and deploying cloud solutions
  • Building reference architectures and implementation templates for cloud solutions

  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and evolving infrastructure
