Job Overview

The Freight Settlements Analyst at Komatsu will manage systems, operations, and financial facets relating to Logistics freight payment (this may include exports, imports, and domestic flow of all modes of transport – air, ocean, container, LTL/TL, fleet, small package – for all item types - parts, components, consumables, finished goods, attachments – and programs. This Role will support the overall financial health of Global Logistics and Distribution through analytics and initiative. The Freight Settlements Analyst will be interacting with Finance, Treasury, Legal, Trade Compliance, Dispatch, Logistics, Warehousing, Import/Export management, Purchasing on a daily basis.

Key Job Responsibilities


Manage system, operations, and financial facets relating to Logistics freight payment, involving export, imports, and domestic flow of all modes of transport – air, ocean, container, LTL/TL, fleet, small package – for all item types - parts, components, consumables, finished goods, attachments – and programs, e.g. supplier to supplier, further processing, direct ships, consignment, VMI, internal transfers, etc.


Drive internal and outsourced solutions to manage pre-and-post audit function, three way match, and freight payment processing fees.


Serve as an expert resource in development, design, and automation of freight payment infrastructure.


Assist with mapping costs to official corporate financial reporting packages/results.


Define, analyze and drive meaningful analysis across regions, service providers, operating units, finance and treasury.


Ensure monthly reporting on freight payment, cost leadership, and balanced scorecard results are timely and accurate. Compile monthly reports on freight claims and conduct root cause analysis for cause of damages.


Conduct root cause analysis of potentially erroneous freight payment data.


Compile weekly payment activity to a yearly file for reporting


Mitigate carry-forward additional freight payments by proactively working with internal finance and external parties (vendors, partners) to correct and resolve issues expediently.


Serve as the subject matter expert and central processor for freight claims.


Qualifications/Requirements


Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree is a plus. 3-5 years business experience – preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain, and/or Distribution (5 years in global logistics and/or carrier management is a plus)


1-3 years financial related experience


Ability to influence outcomes and focus on financials that drive behavioral change


Understand how to use technology to connect transactional information flow to P&L


Advanced Microsoft Office and ERP (SAP preferred) navigation skills


Collaborative style, with strong verbal and written communications and analytical approach
