About The Role
This position will provide legal support to HARMAN’s business on a variety of complex matters related to global trade compliance and other compliance and regulatory matters.
Your Team
This position will report to HARMAN’s Associate General Counsel, Ethics, Integrity & Privacy, and has no direct reports. This position will manage outside counsel in connection with certain work.
What You Will Do
- Provide legal advice concerning global trade compliance matters, including export controls, sanctions, export licensing, deemed exports, product classifications, global trade contract provisions, and custom matters, in support HARMAN’s global operations.
- Support and advise global trade compliance team conducting export classifications and sanctioned-party screening.
- Review and investigate potential trade compliance violations and advise on remediation efforts, such as recommending business process improvements, evaluating voluntary self-disclosure options, reviewing submissions to governmental agencies, and coordinating with outside counsel.
- Manage compliance programs, including code of conduct, anti-corruption, antitrust, conflicts of interest.
- Develop, implement and manage policies, tools and processes to support and improve compliance programs.
- Monitor and provide thought leadership regarding global trade and other regulatory compliance developments and trends.
- Develop and deliver training and communications on global trade and other regulatory compliance matters across HARMAN’s business.
- Assist with a variety of internal and/or external regulatory and/or other compliance investigations.

What you Need
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of related experience, ideally in a combination law firm and corporate settings with a focus on compliance and regulatory matters.
- Law degree from a law school in the United States.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the United States and a member of the bar in any state or the District of Columbia in good standing.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to liaise with all areas of the business.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond promptly to shifting priorities.
