A role in Corporate Compliance and Ethics means providing support and managing key compliance areas for Target including stores, distribution centers and at headquarters.
- Establish monitoring and reporting capabilities to monitor compliance, identify trends, evaluate process effectiveness, and recommend improvements or solutions to identified risks; instill a culture of compliance and continuous improvement amongst team and partners, using data to influence decisions around control procedures, new technologies, or changes in practice or policy for Consumer Protection Compliance programs.
- Provide work direction and leadership to a team responsible for the development, implementation, and on-going management of assigned compliance programs Target; direct the development, implementation and improvement of policies and practices for these programs, consistent with Target’s policy and Compliance Management System frameworks. Programs in scope include Adult Beverage Compliance and RedCard Applications.
- Serve as subject matter expert, advisor, and thought partner for assigned compliance programs, educating partners on compliance requirements, establishing training and awareness campaigns and facilitating the regulatory change management process as new laws are introduced.
- Develop and maintain effective and influential relationships with stakeholders responsible for the execution and integration of compliance programs, policies and initiatives; key partners include but are not limited to: Store Ops, Stores, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Inventory Management, Sr Risk Managers, Data Sciences, Technology Product Management, Target in India, and the Law Department.
- Manage escalated regulatory contacts for consumer protection compliance programs and develop processes to streamline response and resolution.
- Hire train, and motivate team members, create individual and team goals in line with the program goals.
- Assess team member performance and provide helpful feedback and training opportunities.
- Represent Target with regulators and external industry groups.
- Create and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with Target’s values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive; ensure on-going, effective communications to the team, and support individualized development by offering regular performance feedback, coaching and recognition.

About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or other relevant field of study and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years of directly related work experience in compliance, operations or regulatory change management
- Progressive leadership experience
- Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information
- Collect, analyze and use data to identify trends and root cause issues. Develop dashboards and reporting on compliance programs and work with business to capture data needed to understand and monitor performance.
- Compliance Management System: Demonstrated ability to develop program documentation, conduct risk analysis against requirements, develop and conduct training and awareness, identify controls and gaps, process map, and establish monitoring and reporting. Owns Compliance Program- responsible for setting strategy based on program performance, measuring effectiveness and maturity, influencing business to close compliance gaps /managing findings with business partners, escalates risks to appropriate leaders, prioritizes work for program based on risk and where we can gain efficiencies. Leads regulatory change.
- Project Management: Leads projects or work steams within projects. Can plan, execute, monitor and report progress. Can remove barriers and influence cross-functional partner prioritization. Adapts to changing environment and ambiguous work. Projects are cross-functional in nature. May be a SME in a larger cross-functional initiative - responsible for delivering clear compliance requirements, documenting how requirements are met, validating, solutions work, and supporting solution creation with the business.
- Process Mapping: Mastery over processes in program area, identify key controls, metric id associated with map, develop plans with business including prioritization. Establish monitors for key controls.
- Root Cause Analysis: Identification of risk, assess data to understand underlying root causes, identify improvement opportunities and how we measure. Escalate based on risk. Focused on long term solutions.
- Control Design: Ability to work with peers in business areas to design and implement controls. Ability to ensure appropriate monitors are in place. May involve complex business processes requiring business prioritization. Looks at compliance and business objectives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate meetings and build agendas. Collaborate on issues and solutions with partners. Manage conflict with peers and partners. Internal and external stakeholders. Builds consensus and trusted relationships with business partners.
- Automation: Identifies process improvements and automation. Strives for continuous improvement of their process. Automation tech understanding. Implements automation.
- Data Analysis Trending: Collect and analyze data. Use data to id trends and root cause issues. Develops dashboards and reporting on compliance programs. Works with business to capture data needed to understand and monitor performance.
- Change Management: Identify changes, understand stakeholders, gain support and adoption for change.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
- Experience working in a matrixed environment within the retail industry
- Previous experience developing and overseeing sustainable compliance programs
This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$87,900.00 USD - $158,200.00 USD. Pay is based on several factors which may include, but are not limited to education, work experience, certifications, labor markets, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
