TSC is seeking a Trade Compliance Analyst III. Under the direct supervision of higher-level management this position is primarily responsible for providing guidance, instruction and document completion for import/export transactions ensuring compliance to company policy and government requirements. This position exercises independent judgment and operates within established corporate guidelines.

This position has the possibility of being hybrid remote but has to be in proximity to our Arlington, VA or Huntsville, AL office.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a professional and dependable relationship with customers, both internal and external
  • Assists with processing ITAR and EAR license applications, technical assistance agreements, exemptions, and exceptions
  • Prepares and sends periodic reports on the status of licenses as needed for use by company staff
  • Help to manage compliance for import/export, including evaluation of Customs Broker performance
  • Create/review Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Schedule B among multiple company sites, requiring excellent problem-solving skills, methodical thinking, and teamwork with other company departments
  • As Needed, Assign Export Classifications, Country of Origin Determinations and HTS/Schedule B classifications for new components, finished goods, machines/equipment, for imported goods.
  • Coordinate electronic import shipment notifications
  • Assist broker with managing and executing company standard procedures (Customs Entry and EEI Filings)
  • Utilize the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffics and Arms Regulations (ITAR) for export control and be able to assign appropriate ECCNs/USMLs.
  • Support and ensure company pre-export screening procedures are executed
  • Assist with implementing Country-of-Origin requirements, including product markings and valuation rules
  • Provide instruction to shipping and freight forwarders for export transactions
  • Generate export control documents (Commercial Invoice and EEIs)
  • Ensure completion of denied parties screenings and Manage Prohibited parties screening database
  • Maintain internal local content database by acquiring country of origin information from suppliers
  • Help maintain accurate country of origin information in the shipping database
  • Create and report local content reporting programs (USMCA, AALA, CAFE, Manufacturers Affidavit, etc.) including all reporting duties to customers and/or the government
  • Maintain daily import and export logs in OCR/EASE
  • Utilize Incoterms and provide guidance to employees for proper use
  • Provide continuing education to employees
  • Conduct Import/Export training to new-hire employees
  • Complete annual internal audits
  • Update Import and Export Manuals annually per new regulations and/or company procedures
  • Maintains import-export desk procedures.
  • Manages internal audits of import entry summaries (CF7501) and AES filings for export transactions.
  • Assists in Semi Annual Internal Audits
  • Identifies and communicates to management areas of improvement.
  • Monitors distribution lead times and cost effectiveness.
  • General staff support

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years of Experience in International Trade Compliance Field (Imports/Exports)
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills to support day to day communications with internal stakeholders
  • Experience drafting/updating policies and procedures
  • Clear understanding of classification according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)/Schedule B
  • Familiarity with the U.S Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) and the Automated Export System (AESDirect)
  • Experience submitting Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with OCR/EASE
