The Fare Tariff Deputy Director position will be responsible for continued prioritization and implementation of business rules to ensure full alignment between fare collection technology development and MBTA fare policy. This includes translation of existing MBTA fare rules to new Automated Fare Collection (AFC) technology, development of new fare policies related to new elements of the AFC system (such as policies related to “tap-in and tap-out” on Commuter Rail and proof-of-payment with fare inspections across modes), and development of other improvements in MBTA fare rules and partnerships enabled by the new AFC technology. This position will also help to guide the implementation of fare engagement and all-door boarding from a policy perspective. The Fare Tariff Deputy Director will work closely with the Senior Director of Fare Policy and Analytics, the Fare Revenue Team, the Transit Policy Team, and a cross-functional team working on different aspects of policy related to fare policy and collection.
