βοΈ Trade Compliance
Own trade compliance for an entire continent.
A global industrial technology leader is looking for an expert to build, modernise and lead trade compliance across Europe. This is a high-visibility role with a genuine mandate, direct access to senior leadership and a seat at the global trade compliance table.
Locations:Β
- Strasbourg, France
- Dusseldorf, Germany
- Gorinchem, Netherlands
- Sosnowiec, Poland
What you will do
- Set and deliver the European trade compliance strategy across export controls, sanctions and customs.
- Lead export control classification and licensing under EU dual-use rules, EAR and, where relevant, ITAR.
- Own sanctions and restricted-party screening, including complex ownership and end-use assessments.
- Run customs compliance under the Union Customs Code, from classification, valuation and origin to AEO and special procedures.
- Build the governance, controls, KPIs and training that make compliance work in practice.
- Lead digitalisation and automation of compliance workflows, harmonising processes across all European entities.
- Manage customs authorities, audits and post-clearance controls, and hold brokers and forwarders to clear standards.
- Stay ahead of new obligations such as CBAM, EUDR, anti-dumping measures and forced-labour rules, and turn them into workable processes.
- Lead internal investigations when issues arise, from root-cause analysis to corrective action and engagement with authorities.
- Partner with commercial, engineering, supply chain and legal teams to enable growth, not block it.
What you will bring
- 8β10 years in trade compliance, customs or international trade in a multinational, ideally across multiple EU countries.
- Deep knowledge of EU customs and export control regulation, plus working knowledge of EU sanctions regimes.
- Experience managing brokers and forwarders, and improving processes in SAP or global trade management systems.
- The judgement and presence to influence senior stakeholders and explain complex rules in plain language.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and business-fluent English. A second European language and a customs or export controls qualification are a plus.
