New Jersey - Customs Entry Writer

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate U.S. Customs entry filings (formal, informal, and ISF) in compliance with CBP regulations and trade compliance requirements.
• Classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees.
• Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documents to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to filing.
• Communicate proactively with importers, freight forwarders, and internal operations teams to resolve documentation discrepancies and avoid customs delays.
• Monitor entry status with CBP, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and coordinate the release of cargo in a timely manner.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing trade regulations, free trade agreements, and import compliance best practices.
• Accurately record and archive all entry documents and correspondence in the company's customs management system.
