Trade Compliance Program Manager
Leonid Group- Based in: Atlanta, or Ohio
We’re supporting a global industrial manufacturing and technology organisation operating across multiple businesses and markets, with products ranging from commercial and industrial motors to highly engineered equipment and automation solutions.
They’re looking for a Trade Compliance Manager to provide corporate oversight across assigned businesses in the U.S. and Canada.
The role
This is not a role where you simply write policies and wait for someone to read them.
You’ll work closely with business-level Trade Compliance teams, providing governance, risk oversight, audit support and practical guidance across import and export compliance.
Your focus will include:
- U.S. & Canadian import/export compliance, Customs, EAR, ITAR and FTR
- Corporate policies, standards and control frameworks
- Audits, self-assessments and risk assessments
- Identifying root causes and driving corrective actions
- Trade compliance training and awareness
- Regulatory developments and government enquiries
- Supporting investigations, remediation and continuous improvement
The organisation operates through a decentralised model, so influencing people and building strong relationships across different businesses will be just as important as knowing the regulations.
What you’ll bring
- 8+ years in Trade Compliance, Customs Brokerage or a related regulatory environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian trade regulations
- Experience conducting audits and compliance risk assessments
- Working knowledge of ACE and SNAP-R
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% across the U.S. and Canada
Experience within manufacturing, Mexico maquiladora operations, decentralised/matrix organisations or business-level compliance teams would be a strong advantage.
Spanish or French would also be a plus.
Why consider it?
You’ll have visibility across multiple businesses rather than owning just one corner of the trade programme. It’s an opportunity to spot the risks, influence the business, strengthen the controls and help shape how Trade Compliance works across a large international organisation.
If you’re the person people call when trade compliance gets complicated, this could be worth a conversation.
If you're curious to learn more, feel free to get in touch directly (dan@leonid-group.com) even if your CV isn't fully up to date. We'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.
