- Determines and communicates appropriate management accountability and responsibility for trade compliance. Interfaces regularly with Value Center (VC) and corporate leadership as well as the VC general counsel.
- Develops and implements global trade policy and strategy to the VC and provides regulatory guidance to all global IP locations.
- Directs the trade control infrastructure at all IP locations relative to:
o trade staff
o training/communications initiatives
o operational processes,
o export licensing/classification,
o export/import compliance
o trade policy
o export/import violation identification/disclosure

Specifically, the Trade Compliance Director:
- Designs and oversees the implementation of trade compliance programs and evaluates and monitors their effectiveness. Focuses on continuous improvement of trade compliance processes to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Cultivates a high performing team by driving accountability, providing strategic direction, coaching and mentorship of the VC trade compliance professionals.
- Works collaboratively across other VC Trade Compliance teams to share expertise and strategy for managing complex compliance processes.
- Drives global alignment for tariff classification, country of origin and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN).
- Addresses denied party and sanction screening issues; escalates to leadership as needed.
- Oversees third party Customs brokers and agents to ensure consistent compliance standards across all global locations.
- Performs periodic internal audits to review, test, and evaluate the implementation of compliance directives ensuring each locationβs compliance programs are effective and robust.
- Implement value creation initiatives throughout the value center by utilizing existing regulations to drive indirect tax savings. Evaluate and consider savings strategies as appropriate, such as the use of duty reduction programs, free trade zones, free trade agreements, etc.
- Provides for periodic formal training and on-going counsel to VC locations for global trade.
- Maintains expert-level knowledge of all applicable commercial trade legislation and regulations.
- Serves as a primary advisor for IP management groups for trade policy negotiations.
- Represents ITT and serves as a primary interface with Government agencies on trade and compliance issues related to FT operations
- This position at times will require 25-35% travel.
