Export Control Specialist (all genders)

As the Export Control Specialist, you will be responsible for setting up, overseeing, and maintaining the end-to-end export control, import/export operations, customs clearance, and global trade compliance framework for our entity in Greece, based in Thessaloniki. You will work hand-in-hand with our Export Control Lead in Germany to align local trade compliance and logistics processes with our global strategy. Working in a high-growth environment with sophisticated technology, you will ensure full compliance with national (Greek), EU, US, and international trade regulations, customs procedures, and transport requirements, acting as a critical bridge between our Thessaloniki office and German headquarters.

• Global Trade & Customs Management: Oversee end-to-end import/export processes, custom declarations, tariff classifications (HS codes), and duty/tax management for goods, equipment, and defense tech entering or leaving Greece.

• Compliance Management: Design, implement, and continuously update our Internal Compliance Program (ICP) for our Greek entity, mirroring the high standards of our German operations while adapting to national Greek legislation and customs rules.

• Classification & Licensing: Classify cutting-edge technologies and secure all necessary export, import, and transit licenses from Greek authorities (Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Directorate General for International Economic Policy, GDAEE, and Greek Customs Authorities), coordinating with the German team on EU/US nexus items.

• Logistics & Transportation Compliance: Partner with global logistics carriers and freight forwarders to ensure the secure and compliant international transport and cross-border shipment of military, dual-use, and commercial components.

• Global Alignment: Collaborate closely on a daily basis with the German Export Control Lead to ensure seamless cross-border transfers and alignment on global compliance standards in a highly regulated industry.

• Experience: Several years (3+) of professional experience in trade compliance, export/import management, customs clearance, or international trade law within a high-tech, highly regulated industry.

• Legal / Trade Background: A background in Law, International Trade Law, Logistics/Supply Chain, or a related field is strongly preferred.

• Customs & Regulatory Expertise: Solid knowledge of Greek customs procedures, import/export documentation, EU Dual-Use Regulations, and defense export frameworks, combined with the ability to understand and interface with German and US trade controls (EAR/ITAR).

• Shipping & Logistics: Familiarity with international transport, shipping compliance, freight forwarding operations, and Incoterms for cross-border defense/high-tech shipments.

• Languages: Business-fluent English and Greek are required. You possess excellent communication skills to precisely discuss complex legal, customs, and technical matters on an international level.

• Technical Mindset: Ability to understand complex technical specifications and software architectures to accurately classify products and determine tariff codes.
