Export Controller (Perishables)

A well-established international clearing and forwarding company is seeking a strong Export Controller to join their Cape Town branch, handling perishables.

This role is suited to a stable, career-driven individual who can confidently manage export files from A–Z within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment. Perishables experience across seafreight and airfreight is a non-negotiable. 

Duties include:

• Handling export files from booking through to final invoicing.
• Preparing and checking export documentation.
• Arranging shipments and coordinating with service providers.
• Monitoring cargo movement and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Updating clients on shipment progress.
• Ensuring accurate file management and profitability on shipments.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in exports within clearing and forwarding for airfreight and seafreight, handling perishable cargo (non-negotiable).
• Ability to handle export shipments from start to finish (A–Z), excluding framing entries. 
• Strong knowledge of export processes, documentation, and shipping requirements.
• Experience liaising with clients, shipping lines, transporters, and agents.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong administrative and communication skills.
• Stable employment history is essential – candidates with frequent job changes will unfortunately not be considered.
