DePuy Synthes is recruiting for an Export Controls Analyst in Tokyo Japan
This role provides operational export controls support to the global Supply Chain organization, ensuring that international trade activities comply with applicable export control and trade compliance regulations. The Export Controls Analyst plays a critical role in enabling compliant global product movement, supporting business continuity, and mitigating regulatory risk while partnering closely with supply chain, logistics, and regional compliance stakeholders. This is an opportunity to work in a global, highly regulated environment where accuracy, collaboration, and judgment directly support patient access to medical technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day operational support for export control activities across the global supply chain, including transaction review and compliance checks.
Screen and classify products, technologies, customers, and destinations in accordance with applicable export control regulations.
Support export license determinations, applications, and documentation in coordination with global and regional compliance teams.
Partner with supply chain, logistics, and customer service teams to resolve export‑related issues and prevent shipment delays.
Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits, internal reviews, and regulatory inquiries.
Assist with monitoring regulatory changes and support implementation of updated export control requirements into operational processes.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen export compliance controls and efficiency.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Law, or related field preferred).
Experience and Skills
Required:
3–5 years of relevant experience in export controls, trade compliance, supply chain operations, or a related compliance function.
Working knowledge of export control regulations and international trade compliance concepts.
Experience supporting operational processes in a regulated, global environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional and international stakeholders.
Proficiency with standard business systems and data analysis tools (e.g., ERP systems, spreadsheets).
Preferred:
Experience supporting export controls within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with global export control regimes (e.g., U.S., EU, Japan) and denied party screening processes.
Prior experience working in a global or regional shared services model.
Exposure to audits, internal controls, or compliance investigations.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
Other:
Languages: Business‑level English ; Japanese proficiency strongly preferred.
Travel: Minimal travel expected (generally <10%, domestic or international).
Certifications: Trade compliance or export control certifications preferred but not .
