Introduction

We are looking for a Seafreight Export Controller that manages and coordinates the end-to-end sea freight shipping process from origin to international destination, ensuring regulatory compliance and smooth cargo movement. Company will be based in Johannesburg. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Shipment Coordination: Manage end-to-end files from inception to closure, including booking cargo space with shipping lines or co-loaders based on client Shipping Instructions (SLI)

Documentation & Customs: Prepare, process, and submit accurate shipping and port documentation, ensuring compliance with local customs regulations and trade laws

Communication & Tracking: Update clients regularly, coordinate container packing and transport with warehouses, and track vessel movements

Financial Management: Negotiate rates with service providers, check third-party vendor invoices, and bill files accurately within required timeframes

Desired Experience & Qualification

Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate; specialized qualifications in Freight Forwarding, Supply Chain, or International Trade are advantageous

Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in ocean freight/seafreight export operations within a clearing and forwarding agency

Knowledge & Skills: Strong working knowledge of Incoterms, SARS/Customs regulations, bill of lading instructions, and electronic freight documentation systems

Competencies: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
