Seafreight Export Controller

Minimum requirements:

• Matric at a higher grade inclusive of Mathematics and English
• A Freight Forwarding or any such relevant Course Qualification
• Minimum 3 years experience at a Senior Controller level
• Minimum 5 years experience in a Freight Forwarding Environment

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all shipments are dispatched within the proposed time frame
• Keep client fully informed of the progress of the shipment
• Ensure client has arranged the relevant PSI inspection
• Advise client of any cost amendments from the original Estimate
• Book cargo, liaise with haulers, shipping lines i.e block bookings
• Ensure file is opened and data accuracy at all time
• Framing OBL, release, pre alerts sent to all parties
• Liaise with relevant Office at destination and ensure they are kept fully informed of the position of the cargo
• Ensure all shipments Customs regulations are met
• Ensure each shipment is profitable
• Ensure clients are invoiced in line with what has been agreed and the costing is accurate
• Ensure invoices are dispatched regularly and in line with a procedure
• Ensure Supplier invoices are in line with proposed costing on Pegasus and returned to accounts timeously
• Ensure that clients are invoiced according to the credit terms set out for their respective Account i.e COD and Account clients
• Ensure that the best possible rates are purchased from the service providers
• Ensure the guidelines are carried out in accordance with the procedure manual for the department
• Ensure that clients are serviced in such a manner that more business in other areas (modes of transport) and other routes are considered by clients
• Any other delegated tasks deemed as reasonable as assigned by the Reporting Manager
